Predictions for the Next GTA.

GTA has been a pretty big mark on this generation. Sadly though, this mark has only been achieved with one game. GTA IV broke sales records and won over critics and gamers alike. While that is an impressive feat for one game, it would have been great to see at least 3 GTA games like we did last generation. Unfortunately, with many side products as well as higher standards making free roam games more laborious, the most we will see of GTA is a mere two games before this generation is over. Knowing that, we know that the next GTA will be another landmark title that rockstar will use to end this generation with a bang and once again silence any pretenders in the industry who try to touch its glory. With that in mind, here are my predictions for the next GTA that are almost sure to come true.

3.It wont be called GTA V.

You may have noticed that I have not once referred to the next GTA as GTA V. There is a reason for that. GTA games have an interesting way of marking sequels. Instead of doing it in a sequential order, GTA games are numbered by generation. GTA III marked the third generation of GTA while GTA IV marked its debut the fourth generation. GTA V will only be made when PS4 and 720 are announced. The only way the next GTA will be known as GTA V is if there really is no more GTA for this generation. If that is the case, this generation has failed completely. That scenario is unlikely though and the next GTA will probably be called GTA:insert setting here.

2.GTA will be set on London.

GTA games so far have followed a pattern. GTA III, Vice city, and San Andreas were all made setting of thier 2D counterparts. The only setting that has not been remade the London version. Rockstar has hinted in interviews that they will most likely not set the next GTA in a US state and want to go more foreign. Following that and the fact that Rockstar has not dont a London setting in a 3D game, I would say it is very likley that we will see a London setting in the next GTA.

1.GTA will be announced in 2012. 2013 release will be massive.

GTA IV took 5 years to develop as did LA Noire and Red Dead Remeption. GTA IV was released in 2008 so we are nearing the 5 year mark since it came out. With that in mind, I would conclude that we will see GTA "V" announced in 2012 at the latest with a relase date set for 2013. This GTA will be the last GTA game of this generation and will end it with a very memorable game to look back on. I have no doubt about this because Rockstar puts everything into thier games and will not let a game of this calibur disappoint gamers. The hype will be huge and the sales may be enough to claim fastest selling games once again.

I've said this before already. London will fail badly, driving on other side of the road is something i would not like to learn. The majority of people that play it is in the Usa so im pretty sure they'll pick an american city.

Kee4645d ago

Dude, I'm from the UK and I've had no problem driving on the right hand side of the road in games. Not just that, I usually weave in and out of cars in GTA games. For speed.

London makes sense because they've already had a GTA:London. They just need to come up with a main character you can like and keep the story interesting.

Plus, they've pretty much exhausted all the iconic american cities. They really need to branch out.

xX-StolenSoul-Xx4644d ago

Well im also gussing all cops will have guns when you know it's not true in the UK.
Heck i been their personally and the only cops i saw with a gun are in the airport. It would not work in gta.

Kee4644d ago

Well, they all had guns in the original gta London. So why not? I think gta's realism has been a bit of a weakness of the series anyway.

dinkeldinkse4643d ago

Why would you care which side of the road you are suppose to be on? If the next GTA is in London, just drive on the right side and dodge traffic.

bozebo4643d ago

The majority of people that play it are in Europe actually. But the majority of players overall live in countries that drive on the right.

Who actually drives properly in GTA anyway? I just drive like a nutter as fast as possible and end up in some funny crash and burn explosion :D

Lead character WILL BE a Woman. Just for the sake of controversy.

I like the idea. But, as you disagree button see, machism rules.

I read an article saying it will be set in Los Angeles.

I would love it to be set in London though!

My money is on a San Andreas setting. Maybe not all of Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las Venturas, but some combination of those.

There was a cast list found on a casting website. The project was for Take Two and all the character descriptions sounded as if they would be right at home in GTA. There were a lot of references to California, and none to London, or any other location. There was also a character listed who "lives in the sticks" which makes me thing we will see rural areas return.

And I'm not sure if GTA4 was in development for five years or not, but it definitely wasn't five years between San Andreas and GTA4. San Andreas was out in October 2004. GTA4 was out in April 2008. That's three and a half years. Rockstar favors April and May as of late for release dates (LA Noire, GTA4, RDR) so I am expecting a spring 2012 release date. We still have nine months until then, which leaves more than enough time for Rockstar to announce it. I'm actually expecting an announcement any day now, before the fall releases start pouring in.

San Fierro was the best part of san andreas in my opinion. They should make a game just on that.

Las Venturas is good to but i would also like to see a more realistic Vice City. My Favorite Gta :)

MrBeatdown4644d ago (Edited 4644d ago )

Vice City actually would have been my first choice. But I think SA makes sense for them. Between the old San Andreas, LA Noire, and Midnight Club LA, they know the area well, and they likely have the area incredibly well documented and researched.

Ordinarily I'd be bothered by yet another LA-based game, but Rockstar has the talent to make it feel unique and fresh.
